Intussusception: Report of a Case in Adult Due to a Polyp in Small Intestine

Intussusception is invagination of one portion of intestine into the adjacent portion usually the proximal into the distal. It consists of three layers of gut. The receiving layer is called the intussuscipiens, the entering and the returning layers together are called the intussusceptum. Apex is the junction of the entering and the returning layers and is usually a fixed portion of the gut. Neck is the junctional area between the returning layer and the intussuscipiens. Obviously it changes as the intussusceptum advances.
